The women to be honored were Deborah Dawkins, State Senate; Diane Pernich, State Representative; Frances Fredericks, State Representative; Gayle Parker, Circuit Clerk; Christine Brice, Election Commissioner; Ella Jean Holmes-Hines, Gulfport Councilwoman; Gloria McCrary, Gulfport Municipal Executive Committee; Linda St. Martin, Gulfport Municipal Executive Committee; Korman Barnes, Biloxi Municipal Executive Committee.

President Barbara Duncan began the meeting with the Pledge of allegiance. She then introduced the honorees and presented their certificates of Appreciation.

Several candidates were present and given a chance to address the caucus. Mr. Louis Fondren, Candidate for Governor spoke about the Cigarette and grocery tax. He spoke forcefully about things that make Mississippi great and things that need to be changed.

Jim Wilson, candidate for senate seat 52. Spoke about some of the decisions made by his opponent and changes he would make. Wallace "Chip" Barnes Democratic primary candidate for State Representative District 115 spoke of the reasons he is running and the changes he would make. Judge Mary Foretich asked for our help in her candidacy for Judge District 2. She has about 4 Republican opponents.

One of our members Rose Juzang spoke of the Precinct Captains program and it's importance. Elaine Smitherling a guest of Mary Elizabeth Stevens spoke about the AAUW and their important work.

Red carnations were given to the 3 members on the Appreciation luncheon Committee. To Marie Edwards for arraigning the luncheon and being the Hostess, Barbara Duncan for helping co ordinate, and Jane Lindsey for sending invitations, and computer work.

A delicious luncheon was served by Mary Mahoney's staff and after we ate we enjoyed mingling and talking with other Democrats. Merrye Lynn Brennan introduced her mother and Mrs. Holmes Hines introduced her husband and Daughter. Rose Juzang's daughter and grandson joined us.

Mary Larson, HCFDW treasurer was there and enjoyed meeting all present. Our Member Elaine Duncan was there. Mr. and Mrs. Klass were guests of Mary Elizabeth Stevens. Bill Lindsey, Renick Taylor and Ken Miles were present as well. We all enjoyed Bobby Mahoney's jokes and thanked him for a beautiful setting and lunch.
